Knowledge Transfer team visits Chiara Dariao at CalTech.
On April 16th, Keith Runge, Director of Knowledge Transfer, and Araceli Hernández-Granados, Knowledge Transfer Research Scientist at the University of Arizona, visited the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) for an exciting collaboration. The UA team worked closely with Professor Chiara Daraio, a leading expert in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Physics, who is a co-Principal Investigator on the NewFoS project. Her research focuses on exploring the yet unknown aspects of topological acoustics, specifically the effect of nonlinearity on topological properties.
During their visit, Runge and Hernández-Granados engaged with Daraio’s research group, including Reo Yanagi and Hujie (Henry) Yan, both contributors to the NewFoS project. The collaboration marked a significant step forward in the ongoing research and knowledge transfer efforts between the institutions.
This partnership highlights the innovative work being done in the field of topological acoustics, with potential applications ranging from advanced sensing technologies to revolutionizing telecommunications. The University of Arizona is committed to continuing this fruitful collaboration, driving further advancements in this cutting-edge area of research.
