Adriana Cimetta, PhD, MPH, is an Associate Research Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology. Her expertise is in mixed methods research and evaluation, educational measurement and assessment, STEM and early childhood evaluation, and organizational change. Her research focuses on understanding the dynamics and processes of learning and development based on the backgrounds and experiences of young children and students of all ages.

Hao Zhang distinguished statistician with a Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where her doctoral research focused on Nonparametric Variable Selection and Model Building via Likelihood Basis Pursuit. She earned her B.S. in Mathematics from Peking University in Beijing, China.She has held academic appointments at North Carolina State University from 2002 to 2011, where she advanced her expertise in both teaching and research.

Dr. Haeger is the Research Director for the Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) Learning Center and an Assistant Professor in Educational Policy Studies and Practice. Her research is focused on equity in educational practices and barriers to full participation in STEM education. Her research is used to inform programmatic interventions aimed at engaging students that have been traditionally marginalized in higher education and creating more inclusive and culturally responsive STEM learning environments.

Ivan Djordjevic’s research areas include optical communications and networks, quantum communications, quantum networks, quantum sensing and error control coding.

Joshua A. Levine is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at University of Arizona. Prior to Arizona, he was an assistant professor in the Visual Computing Division of Clemson University’s School of Computing and a postdoctoral research associate at University of Utah’s Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute.  He received his PhD from The Ohio State University after completing his BS and MS in Computer Science from Case Western Reserve University.

Krishna Muralidharan is a professor in the department of materials science and engineering at the University of Arizona, with joint appointments at the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory and the Graduate Interdisciplinary Program in Applied Mathematics. His research focuses on implementing integrated computational materials engineering paradigms to push the frontiers of additive manufacturing, multiscale energy storage systems and planetary materials analysis.

Assistant professor Marat I. Latypov is the recipient of a National Science Foundation Career Award. He received his PhD in materials science and engineering at Pohang University of Science and Technology followed by a postdoc at Georgia Tech/CNRS lab in France and the University of California in Santa Barbara. He joined the Materials Science and Engineering Department in 2021 and is a member of the Applied Mathematics Graduate Interdisciplinary Program.

Minkyu Kim is an associate professor at the University of Arizona in biomedical engineering, materials science and engineering and the BIO5 Institute. He earned his PhD in mechanical engineering and materials science from Duke University in 2011 and was a postdoctoral researcher at MIT from 2012 to 2016. Dr. Kim has a diverse range of research experiences, including biopolymer nanomechanics, polymer physics and self-assembly, biomolecular engineering and soft materials.

Pierre A. Deymier is a professor of materials science and engineering at the University of Arizona. He is also the director of the New Frontiers of Sound Science and Technology Center and a faculty member in the BIO5 Institute, biomedical engineering program and applied mathematics graduate interdisciplinary program. Deymier received his PhD from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1985 and subsequently joined the University of Arizona.

Pierre Lucas is a professor of materials science and engineering and a professor of optical engineering. He was director of the CNRS International Associated Laboratory for Materials and Optics from 2009-2017. He received his PhD in physical chemistry from Arizona State University in 1999. Lucas is the author of more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and nine book chapters in the field of materials science. He is also author of the book Rare Earths: Science, Technology, Production and Use, Elsevier, 2014. 

Sara Chavarria has been designing and conducting informal educational programming that creates learner-centered interactive experiences for underserved and underrepresented students as well as for teachers that serve these populations.  As a first-generation TRIO Upward Bound and college graduate alum who came from a low-income background, she is especially interested in best practices for attraction and retention of low-income, first-generation undergraduate students as well as creating exciting pathways for high school and undergraduate students in higher education.

Samy Missoum’s research specialties include design optimization, probabilistic design and finite element analysis. He researches solutions for difficult design problems at the intersection of advanced computer-aided engineering, reliability and robustness, and optimization.

Susan is a professor specializing in global seismology and tectonics. Her research uses broadband seismology to investigate mountain belts, subduction zones, and earthquakes, with a particular focus on the evolution of the North and South American Cordilleras and the tectonics of Anatolia.

Prof. Tribikram Kundu earned his B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1979, receiving the President of India Gold Medal for ranking first among all graduates. He completed his MS (1980) and PhD (1983) in Solid Mechanics at UCLA, where he was named Outstanding Graduate Student of the Year (1980–81). He joined the University of Arizona in 1983 as an assistant professor in Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics (later Civil and Architectural Engineering and Mechanics) and became a full professor in 1994.

Zafer Mutlu is an assistant professor of materials science and engineering, with joint (by courtesy) appointments in electrical and computer engineering and physics at University of Arizona, where he has been selected as a Craig M. Berge Faculty Fellow and a Center for Semiconductor Manufacturing Fellow. Before joining University of Arizona, he conducted several years of postdoctoral research at University of California, Berkeley, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), Stanford Nano Shared Facilities (SNSF), and University of California, Riverside.
