Evaluation

NewFoS has a team of evaluation/educational research experts who are engaged from the onset in the design of evaluation tools and data gathering. Led by Deil-Amen, the evaluator team will meet regularly with the Director, Co-PIs, and EBIT to review activity plans, and provide immediate feedback and recommendations on activity design. Thereafter, the evaluators will conduct mixed-methods formative evaluations to track progress, challenges, and successes. The evaluators will be integral to ensure we make a difference and create the inclusive Center we envision as a core value.

Purpose of the Evaluation Team:
To ensure that NewFoS meets its educational aims of providing a diverse range of students access to sound-based STEM, creating academic and career pathways TA, and contributing to a diverse TA workforce, we will be including in our assessment, measures of inclusive, asset-based, and culturally responsive approaches in our programming as well as measures of science identity and resiliency among students.
All of this will be done in an effort to ensure and understand the nature of student’s access to TA, to ensure that they are academically successful in this new Science of Sound and its applications, and that they are ready and motivated to be part of the TA workforce. To evaluate our success in making that happen, we will be carefully tracking a set of performance indices that aligns each with our outputs, outcomes, and legacies.
