Pierre Deymier Honored as 2025 da Vinci Fellow 🎉🎊

On behalf of the New Frontiers of Sound Science and Technology Center (NewFoS), we are delighted to congratulate Dr. Pierre Deymier, our esteemed Director, on being named the 2025 da Vinci Fellow by the University of Arizona College of Engineering. This prestigious recognition, established by da Vinci Circle donors, highlights engineering faculty members who have made outstanding contributions in teaching, research, and service. 

Dr. Deymier’s remarkable career spans 39 years as a professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. His visionary leadership and groundbreaking contributions to fields such as inhomogeneous media, biological materials, and multiscale modeling have solidified his status as a global leader in materials science. 

Since joining the University of Arizona in 1985, Dr. Deymier’s work has epitomized interdisciplinary innovation, producing 280 scholarly works, including books, journal articles, and patents. Even while serving as Department Head (2011–2021) and Associate Department Head (2001–2009), his commitment to cutting-edge research and mentoring remained unwavering. 

As the director of NewFoS, Dr. Deymier’s leadership has propelled our center to the forefront of sound science and technology, fostering groundbreaking discoveries and inspiring future generations of researchers. His dedication to excellence aligns perfectly with the spirit of the da Vinci Fellowship. We at NewFoS are proud to celebrate this well-deserved honor for Dr. Deymier. His achievements reflect not only his personal excellence but also the values and aspirations of our home at NewFoS and the University of Arizona.
