The 186th Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America, held in conjunction with Acoustics Week in Canada from May 13–17, 2024, in Ottawa, Ontario, showcased groundbreaking research in the field of acoustics and wave physics. Among the many exciting presentations, two notable contributions from leading researchers highlighted the role of acoustic metamaterials and phononic superlattices in advancing wave manipulation and computing.

Dr. Pierre Deymier, along with collaborators K. Runge, M. A. Hasan, J. Levine, and M. Leamy, delivered an invited presentation on "Application of Acoustic Metamaterials to Phase Computing." Additionally, a contributed presentation by P. Deymier, K. Runge, A. Khanikaev, and A. Alù introduced research on "Pseudo-spin Polarized One-Way Elastic Wave Eigenstates in One-Dimensional Phononic Superlattices."

These contributions reflect the growing impact of acoustic metamaterials and phononic structures in diverse applications, from advanced computing to novel wave-guiding technologies. The conference provided an invaluable platform for researchers to discuss and explore these emerging trends in acoustics, specifically at NewFoS.
