Arturo Whipple Participates in National Mentoring Catalyst Engineering Workshop
Raleigh, NC — March 22–24, 2026 — Arturo Whipple, an undergraduate researcher at the University of Arizona, recently participated in the Mentoring Catalyst Engineering Research, Career, and Communication Workshop, a national professional development program hosted at North Carolina State University.
The one-and-a-half–day workshop, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), brings together undergraduate engineering research students from across the United States to strengthen their research capabilities and prepare for future careers in STEM. Participants engaged in interactive sessions focused on research skills, STEM communication, and career planning while building connections with peers and mentors from institutions nationwide.
The Mentoring Catalyst program is designed to support undergraduate researchers by providing structured opportunities to develop professional competencies essential for success in graduate studies and engineering careers. Through collaborative activities and professional development training, students gain valuable insights into communicating scientific research and navigating career pathways in engineering and related fields.
Whipple’s participation reflects the University of Arizona’s continued commitment to fostering undergraduate research experiences and supporting student engagement in national programs that promote academic growth, professional development, and leadership in STEM.
