Congratulations to Andrea Alù – Named Senior Fellow of the Simons Society of Fellows
We are thrilled to celebrate Andrea Alù, co-PI at New Frontiers of Sound (NewFoS), on being named one of the newest Senior Fellows of the Simons Society of Fellows.
The Simons Foundation has recognized Andrea alongside Glennys R. Farrar (physics) and Michael L. Overton (mathematics) for their groundbreaking contributions to science and dedication to mentoring early-career researchers.
Founded in 2014, the Simons Society of Fellows fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and mentorship through weekly dinners, annual retreats, alumni conferences, and career development workshops. As Senior Fellows, Alù, Farrar, and Overton will now help guide and inspire the Society’s Junior Fellows.
Andrea Alù is a Distinguished Professor, Einstein Professor of Physics and Electrical Engineering at CUNY, founding director of the Photonics Initiative at the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center, and a leading researcher in applied electromagnetics, nano-optics, polaritonics, and acoustics.
👏 Warm congratulations as well to Glennys R. Farrar and Michael L. Overton on this well-deserved honor!
