Last week, from March 23–27, 2025, our Lab Manager I-Ting Ho (Andy) presented cutting-edge research on the non-destructive evaluation of additively manufactured IN718 superalloy at the TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition.
- Poster Presentation (March 25): Enhanced Quantification of Reinforcement Particles & Defects in AM IN718 — Andy applied Micro-XCT and the CGAL Alpha Wrapping Tool to improve surface extraction accuracy, advancing SPC and geometric phase analysis for more precise defect detection.
- Oral Presentation (March 27): Rapid Data-Driven NDE of AM IN718 Using SPC Non-Linear Ultrasonics — Andy demonstrated how Sideband Peak Counting (SPC), Micro-XCT scans, and Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) combine to accurately quantify porosity in AM components.
