Jihong Ma

Jihong Ma is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Vermont. She earned her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities in 2017 and her B.Eng. in Engineering Mechanics from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2012. Her research focuses on multiscale structure–property relationships in materials, combining theory, simulation, and experiments, with applications in polymers, metamaterials, energy, and nanoscale transport. Dr. Ma has published extensively in leading journals and has received funding from NSF, DOE, NASA, and industry partners; she was an AFRL Summer Faculty Fellow in 2023 and an NSF CAREER Awardee in 2026.
